The idea that the Fast X sequel will only move forward "if they can trim the budget by a massive amount" reflects real industry pressures. The franchise has become increasingly expensive, with Fast X reportedly costing around $200 million to produce and an even higher marketing budget. Despite strong box office returns (it grossed over $750 million worldwide), the return on investment has been questioned, particularly as audience fatigue and diminishing returns start to creep in. To keep the franchise alive, studios like Universal Pictures are likely pushing for cost-cutting measures.
