Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

Atelier Yumia features three distinct Synthesis types:

Regular Synthesis: Performed at an Alchemist's altar. This is your primary method for crafting weapons, armor, items, and even the materials needed for further synthesis. Early on, you'll use the Atelier, but you can also build Simple Altars in buildable areas (cleared manabound zones and campsites) to access this anywhere.
Simple Synthesis: Accessed via the radial menu outside of battle. This allows for quick crafting of items like bandages, ziplines, and repair kits.
Building Synthesis: Also accessed via the radial menu, but only available at specific locations. While not explicitly labeled as Synthesis, this is how you create storage chests and wall hangings, as the story often confirms.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia

Regular Synthesis at altars is the most complex. Crafting, for instance, a gun staff requires a recipe (found during exploration, and upgradeable at Recipe Recall Stations using particles from mana fountains). Here’s the process:

Select Item: Choose the gun staff you wish to create.
Select Synthesis Skills: (If unlocked in the skill tree).
Select Alchemy Cores: Choose your Alchemy Cores. Each core affects different aspects:
- Effects Core: Boosts selected skills.
- Quality Core: Increases the item's quality level.
- Trait Core: Increases Trait Crystal slots.
Fill Cores: Add collected resources to each core. Use mana fragments to further boost quality.
Synthesize: Once ready, create the item!

Tips for Strong Items: Unlock Synthesis Skills early for significant damage and quality boosts. Duplicating items saves resources. Adding resources to all three Alchemy Cores enhances quality (use left/right bumpers to add resources to specific cores). Collecting mana fragments (yellow sparkles) for all cores significantly increases item strength. Prioritize resources matching the element type of specific slots (indicated by a blue outline). Organize your resources to use higher-quality ones first, though effects might sometimes take precedence.
