This single-player, 2D, narrative-driven video game invites players to explore the life of a young Black woman residing in her grandmother’s cherished home in Detroit. As she traverses significant eras, players encounter challenges tied to race, place, and home, revealing the complexities of decision-making amidst systemic barriers.

DOT’S HOME immerses players in an interactive experience, offering insights into how societal structures influence racial and spatial dynamics. Through scenarios involving redlining, urban renewal, and gentrification, the game prompts players to reflect on their family’s journey and the extent of their agency within it.

This title represents a creative partnership between multimedia storytellers and housing and land justice advocates under the Rise-Home Stories initiative. Together, they reimagine community narratives across past, present, and future landscapes.
