Mortal Kombat Mobile, la version mobile de Mortal Kombat, devrait recevoir son premier personnage invité. Et ce dernier ajout au casting est majeur, puisque l'anti-héros emblématique de Todd McFarlane, Spawn, rejoint la liste de Mortal Kombat Mobile, rejoint par Kenshi, un habitué de la série, sous sa forme MK1.

Spawn, de son vrai nom Al Simmons, est un soldat assassiné qui conclut un accord avec le Diable pour revenir sur Terre en tant que justicier anti-héroïque. Doué de dangereux pouvoirs surnaturels, il pourrait aussi être celui qui provoquera l'Apocalypse.

Créé dans les années 90 (enfin, techniquement plus tôt mais publié pour la première fois à cette époque) Spawn est la création de Todd McFarlane et l'un des personnages phares d'Image, du moins à l'époque. Il est également un personnage invité très demandé pour Mortal Kombat et est apparu pour la première fois dans la série dans Mortal Kombat 11.
