Defeating the Chatacabra

The Chatacabra, a large frog-like creature, relies on close-quarters combat. While it can charge if you maintain distance, its attacks are primarily tongue-based. Any weapon is viable, though slower weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less efficient due to the Chatacabra's smaller size.
Its attacks mainly target the front, making flanking crucial. Avoid the frontal lick attack and the ground slam (easily telegraphed by a rearing motion). The only significant rear attack involves a sweeping tongue strike after it raises its head.
The optimal strategy involves maintaining a flanking position, dodging or blocking slam attacks. Exploiting its ice and thunder weaknesses significantly accelerates the fight.
Capturing the Chatacabra
Monster capture in Monster Hunter Wilds follows a consistent pattern. The Chatacabra's lack of flight simplifies the process. Equip a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, along with two Tranq Bombs (though carrying more is recommended).
Once the Chatacabra's health is critically low (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap), it will attempt to flee. Place a trap in its path, lure it in, and use two Tranq Bombs to complete the capture.
