How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Mastering Monster Capture in Monster Hunter Wilds

While slaying monsters is thrilling, capturing them is crucial for acquiring all their valuable parts. This guide details the process in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The Capture Process

Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is straightforward: weaken the monster, trap it, and then use a tranquilizer item.

Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weakened. Other indicators include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and visible signs of weakness like limping or drooling.

Once weakened, deploy a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto the trap. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle. A successful capture ends the quest and returns you to Base Camp.

Obtaining Traps and Tranquilizer Items

While your Palico may occasionally set traps, it's best to carry your own. Two trap types exist: Pitfall Traps (Trap Tool + Net – Spiderwebs or Ivy) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor).

Tranq Bombs are crafted using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can be combined with Throwing Knives (Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (Tranq Ammo).
