Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, boasts lightning elemental properties, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's significantly vulnerable to water and ice. Prioritize targeting its head (4-star weakness) for maximum damage. Its wings (3-star weakness) also offer a good alternative. Avoid its robust torso and well-protected legs.
While most status effects are effective, stun and paralysis are exceptions. Remember, Rey Dau's lightning element makes stunning it futile.
Use a Flash Pod
Employing Flash Pods is a highly effective tactic. The temporary stun they inflict creates crucial openings for powerful attacks. Capitalize on this by targeting its horns during its lightning attack, aiming for maximum damage. Remember to activate Focus Mode to clearly see the glowing red horns.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
To enhance survivability, equip gear that boosts elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and provides resistance to lightning and fire, making it ideal. Consider also consuming meals that boost elemental resistance.
If dodging proves challenging, maintain proximity to Rey Dau's legs. Its attacks primarily target areas in front and behind, minimizing your exposure near its legs.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's flight patterns will shift the battleground. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found near the lone tree to temporarily stun it. Exercise caution near its nest, however, as its follow-up lightning attack there is particularly potent. Avoid hasty actions in this area to prevent a fatal shock.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health until it nears death, indicated by a skull icon near its minimap icon. Once this appears, deploy a trap—a Pitfall Trap is recommended since Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning-elemental creatures. Immediately follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence; be prepared for a swift response.
