Cyberpunk 2077’s Planned Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Expansion Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077's development history includes an ambitious, ultimately scrapped DLC set on the Moon. Data miner SirMZK unearthed compelling evidence within the game's code, revealing the scale and scope of CD Projekt RED's lunar ambitions.

Game files contain references to lunar surface maps, distinct zones like an "Exterior Movie Set" and a "Drug Lab," and even a rover model. The Moon location was planned to be enormous, potentially a quarter the size of Night City, offering a fully realized open-world experience far removed from the game's familiar neon-drenched streets.

A key element of this DLC was to be the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. While absent from the final game, a glimpse of the Crystal Palace can be seen in one ending sequence, viewed from a spaceship window. Further, files show a prototype zero-gravity bar connected to a cut quest, "201," linked to the Arasaka storyline.

Hope remains that these concepts might find new life in CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, an expansion of the Cyberpunk universe. However, the studio has yet to officially comment on reusing these assets.

The cancelled Moon DLC remains a tantalizing "what if," showcasing a bold vision for Cyberpunk 2077—a unique blend of space exploration and the franchise's distinctive cyberpunk style.
