Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers decent speed, traversing large battlefields to aid officers often necessitates faster travel.
This is where your horse proves invaluable, summonable at any time in the overworld or during battles. Engage in combat from horseback for swift hit-and-run tactics. Here's how to acquire your first horse, enhance its abilities, and swap it for others.
How To Obtain Your First Steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
A free horse awaits in Chapter 1! Speak to a merchant encountered in the overworld after completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle. He's located northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp. He'll gift you the horse upon conversation, automatically equipping it.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
Leveling Up Your Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if unused during the mission itself. Skirmishes, however, do not award XP. Missions (indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon) provide moderate-length battles for XP gain. The XP earned depends on battle duration, your riding time, and enemy charges. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each horse.
Switching Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your initial mount is automatically equipped, additional steeds are available. Manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu (the last option on the left). Each horse boasts unique advantages; some are inherently faster. Maximize a region's peace level to unlock new horses as rewards at nearby waypoints.
