A new update for Mario & Luigi: Brothership was recently highlighted on Nintendo's official Japanese website, showcasing new enemies, locations, and battle systems to prepare players for the game's November release. Alongside these reveals, Nintendo provided strategies for selecting optimal attacks and—Mamma Mia!—how to defeat the dangerous monsters inhabiting each island.

These attacks are based on Quick Time Events (QTEs), which challenge players to respond promptly and precisely to on-screen cues. That means perfect timing and quick reflexes are essential! Please be aware this information comes from Japanese sources, and attack names might differ in the English localization.

Tips for Combination Attacks

In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, players will battle monsters across multiple islands. Success in combat depends on how well you combine Mario and Luigi's unique abilities. Gameplay footage introduces the "Combination Attack," in which Mario and Luigi perform basic "hammer" and "jump" moves simultaneously to form a unified strike—provided you press the correct buttons at the right moment.

Nintendo explained, "Failing to input commands correctly will weaken the attack, so the key is executing basic moves perfectly as a combination." Also, if either Mario or Luigi is incapacitated, the command will trigger a single-character move instead.

Tips for Brother Attacks

Nintendo also offered advice on "Brother Attacks"—powerful abilities that use Brother Points (BP) and can turn the tide of battle. Several types of Brother Attacks are available, delivering massive damage perfect for taking down challenging bosses.

One featured clip demonstrates the "Thunder Dynamo" Brother Attack, where the brothers take turns generating electrical energy from a machine before striking all enemies with lightning. This skill is especially useful for hitting multiple enemies with area-of-effect (AoE) damage.

"To fight effectively, choose commands and techniques that match the situation," Nintendo advised. "Keep this in mind as you play!"
