Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming Ver. 1.011 update set for May 28. This update promises "an abundance of new features and changes," including a thrilling collaboration with Street Fighter 6.
In his Director's Letter, Tokuda expressed the team's commitment to enhancing the gaming experience by adding "more great content" and making significant adjustments. A highlight of the update is the introduction of Street Fighter's Akuma as a new challenger. Players can look forward to acquiring the full Arkuma armor set and layered armor. When equipped, these sets will add three special items to your item bar: Assisted Combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken. For more details on these items, check out the official Monster Hunter website.
The Ver. 1.011 update also introduces eight-star "challenging" monsters, available to hunt at HR 41 and above. These include Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad, offering new options for hunting eight-star tempered monsters beyond Arkveld, which remains available at seven-star difficulty. These eight-star versions are tougher, featuring increased health, wound resistance, and tweaks to multiplayer scaling. Tokuda highlighted Tempered Gore Magala as a particularly formidable challenge. As players increase their HR, they can expect more high-difficulty quests and encounters with multiple monsters.
Alongside these additions, Ver. 1.011 and Title Update 2 will bring "player-centric balance adjustments" to several weapons, including the Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun. Specific adjustments have also been made to the Gunlance Artian weapons. Tokuda emphasized that while some parameters have been adjusted downward, others have been increased, expanding the possibilities for all weapon types. He encouraged players to explore these changes once the update is live, noting additional improvements to the Hammer and Dual Blades.
Quality of life improvements are also on the way. Hunters will now be able to rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord, restoring all destroyed Pop-up Camps. A confirmation window will no longer appear when your item pouch is full; items will automatically be sent to your item box. The visibility of meal effect duration has been enhanced, showing a countdown 10 minutes before expiration. Notification frequency in locales has been adjusted to display only higher-priority targets, and they will no longer block map access.
Tokuda also mentioned the ability to view individual endemic life captured in the Windward Plains through Ecological Research. Players can check the names, sizes, and weights of fish caught, and favorite creatures to keep them even if storage capacity is exceeded. This feature allows players to preserve creatures with unique patterns or other distinctive elements.
Stability improvements, particularly on Steam, are part of the update. With the addition of eight-star monsters, rewards for eight-star investigations and field surveys have been increased. Additionally, Guild Point rewards for fishing have been rebalanced, though specifics remain undisclosed.
