Authore: JoshuaUpdate:Mar 27,2025

Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for *Lies of P*, titled *Overture*, fans have been buzzing with excitement and theories about what secrets it might hold. During the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN got some exclusive insights, confirming that one particular mystery—the game's surprising final cutscene—won't be explained in the DLC. For those yet to experience the end of *Lies of P*, the final cutscene hints at future directions for the game's universe, sparking widespread speculation among the community. However, director Jiwon Choi clarified that this intriguing scene isn't related to *Overture*. He cryptically added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

With a full sequel already in the works, it's speculated that the enigmatic cutscene might instead tie into *Lies of P 2*. Details about the sequel remain under wraps, but Choi emphasized the team's commitment to quality: "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the so-called Dorothy scene. As detailed here, the final cutscene features Paracelsus talking on the phone, mentioning he will "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals Dorothy's iconic striped socks and ruby slippers, hinting at an intriguing crossover with other public domain "fairy tales" in future *Lies of P* stories. Yet, this twist won't be explored in *Overture*.

While the final cutscene remains a mystery for now, Choi provided some tantalizing hints about what fans can expect from *Overture*. He advised players to replay the base game to spot hidden clues scattered throughout the world, which foreshadow the upcoming expansion: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."

Choi also mentioned that some fans are already on the right track with their theories, noting that he keeps up with online discussions and finds some speculations "quite close" to the mark.

Additional details shared by Choi include that the DLC will take experienced players approximately 15-20 hours to complete and will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game, extending all the way to the end. As announced previously, *Overture* is a prequel, sending the protagonist back in time to Krat before its fall. Players can look forward to exploring new locations, battling new enemies and bosses, meeting new characters, and wielding new weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
