Palworld’s massive v0.5.0 update introduces cross-platform play, revolutionizing the way players connect and interact. This exciting update also allows players to utilize the Global Palbox, a game-changing storage system offering ten times the capacity of the standard Palbox. This shared resource is accessible to guild members and can be configured for private use, providing unparalleled flexibility for managing your Pal collection across different worlds.
Beyond crossplay and expanded storage, v0.5.0 boasts a wealth of new features. Customize your character's appearance with the new cosmetic armor system (transmog), capturing breathtaking moments with the newly implemented photo mode, and strategically upgrading blueprints using the drafting table. Mac users also rejoice, as dedicated servers are now available. Pocketpair has also confirmed that dedicated servers for PlayStation 5 are in development.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has amassed an incredible 32 million players. This phenomenal success has fueled an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and even more exciting content for this wildly popular creature-catching survival game. Initially launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records. The game's success was so significant that Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe stated the studio couldn't handle the massive profits generated. Capitalizing on this breakout success, Pocketpair partnered with Sony, forming Palworld Entertainment to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.
However, Palworld’s journey isn’t without its challenges. The game is currently facing a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, alleging patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded, identifying the patents in question and making adjustments to Pal summoning mechanics. The studio has pledged to vigorously defend its position in court.
