"Dune: Awakening Delay Extended by Three Weeks for Beta-Inspired Updates"

Authore: RyanUpdate:Apr 16,2025

The highly anticipated open world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed films, has been pushed back to a release date of June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced the delay but offered eager fans a silver lining: those who opt for the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can dive into the game five days early on June 5.

Funcom took to social media to share the update, stating, "An important update regarding Dune: Awakening:" [insert X post here]. The decision to delay the game came after feedback from the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta, allowing the team "a bit more time to cook." This extra time will be used to implement crucial changes identified during the beta phase, ensuring a more polished final product.

To further engage the community, Funcom announced a "large-scale beta weekend next month," giving more players the chance to experience Dune: Awakening and provide valuable feedback. While the delay might be disappointing for some, Funcom is hosting a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT, which promises to delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills.

As IGN noted in our hands-on preview, "Dune: Awakening might raise eyebrows as an MMO survival game set in the Duniverse, but after surviving bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, my day on Arrakis convinced me that this is one to watch."
