Marvel Rivals Unveils Sanctum Sanctorum: A New Map and Game Mode for Season 1
Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, "Eternal Night Falls," launching January 10th at 1 AM PST, introduces a thrilling new map: the Sanctum Sanctorum. This iconic location will host the game's newest mode, Doom Match, a chaotic free-for-all battle royale for 8-12 players where the top 50% emerge victorious.
Beyond the Sanctum Sanctorum, Season 1 expands Marvel Rivals with two additional maps: Midtown (featuring a new convoy mission) and the mysterious Central Park (arriving mid-season).
The Sanctum Sanctorum map itself is a visual spectacle, blending opulent décor with surreal elements. A recent video showcased the map's unique features, including a kitchen with floating cookware and a bizarre refrigerator inhabitant. Winding staircases, floating bookshelves, and mystical artifacts add to the atmosphere, all overseen by a cheerful portrait of Doctor Strange himself. The trailer also offers a first look at Wong and Doctor Strange's spectral canine companion, Bats.
This season's storyline pits the Fantastic Four against Dracula, who serves as the primary antagonist. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman debut with the season launch, while Human Torch and The Thing join the fray in a mid-season update. The Sanctum Sanctorum, with its meticulously detailed environment, provides a fitting backdrop for this epic showdown. The level of detail, from the smallest elements to the overall aesthetic, is a testament to the developers' dedication.
