NieR: Automata's world offers more than just android-machine warfare. Fishing, a peaceful alternative, can be easily overlooked but provides a surprisingly efficient way to acquire rare items and earn quick cash without the resource expenditure of combat. This guide details how to fish and the rewards you can expect.
How To Fish In NieR: Automata
Fishing is accessible in almost any body of water, even shallow areas like those near the Resistance Camp. Simply stand still in the water; a fishing prompt will appear above your character. Holding the designated button initiates the fishing process. The mechanics are straightforward: cast and reel.

- Xbox: B
- PC: Enter
After casting, wait for the pod to be fully submerged with a distinct "plop." Quickly press the reel button; a delayed reaction results in a lost catch. You can cast repeatedly without limitation. A helpful plug-in chip displays a fishing icon in the top right corner when fishing is possible.
Rewards For Fishing In NieR: Automata
Most fish and junk items acquired through fishing command decent sale prices, offering a safe and rapid method for early-game wealth accumulation, particularly useful for expanding plug-in chip capacity. Fishing in sewers carries a chance of yielding the Iron Pipe, a potentially powerful weapon depending on your luck.
