Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14, 2025
Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered Alpha in 2024.
This open beta isn't just about access; it's a content explosion. Alongside the launch, players will welcome Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, a Magical Assassin and Jungler with unique wall-running and trapping abilities. The nostalgic return of several beloved Gods from the original Smite – Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni – is also confirmed, each with updated skill sets.
Beyond new Gods, expect a revamped experience. The open beta introduces:
- New Game Modes: Experience the thrill of 3v3 Joust, set in an Arthurian-themed arena with teleporters and stealth grass, and the intense 1v1 Duel, utilizing the same map.
- Aspects System: This innovative feature allows players to sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful buff, adding strategic depth. 20 of the game's 45 Gods will initially feature Aspects.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Smite 2 prioritizes player experience with additions like Role Guides, improved in-game messaging, PC text chat, enhanced item stores, and detailed death recaps.
The roster will boast nearly 50 Gods by the end of January 2025, a significant expansion from the initial 14 available during the Alpha.
The excitement extends beyond the game itself. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19.
Smite 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Prepare for battle!
