The announcement of the development of *Space Marine 3* sent ripples of excitement and concern through the Warhammer 40,000 community. Just six months after the release of *Space Marine 2*, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive made the surprise reveal in mid-March, prompting worries about the future support for the existing game.

In response, both companies issued a reassuring blog post, emphasizing their commitment to *Space Marine 2*. They clarified that the development of *Space Marine 3* does not signal the end of support for *Space Marine 2*. "Space Marine 3 does not mean the end of Space Marine 2's development. Far from it. No teams are shifting over, no one is abandoning the game, and our plans to bring more awesome content to Space Marine 2 remain," the statement affirmed.

The roadmap for *Space Marine 2* remains intact, with Patch 7 scheduled for mid-April. Excitingly, the game is set to receive a new class, new PvE operations, and new melee weapons in the coming months. The developers teased additional surprises, hinting at content that even dataminers haven't uncovered yet.

The announcement of *Space Marine 3* marks the beginning of a new project that is still years away from release. The developers expressed gratitude for the community's excitement and assured fans that they have plenty more in store for *Space Marine 2*.

The big news for *Space Marine 2* includes the introduction of a new class, which fans speculate might be the Apothecary, akin to a medic class for Space Marines, or possibly the Librarian, offering warp-powered space magic. Additionally, a new melee weapon is on the horizon, with fans particularly eager to see the iconic axe from Secret Level's Warhammer 40,000 animated episode incorporated into the game, a wish that some modders have already fulfilled.

The decision to greenlight *Space Marine 3* comes as no surprise given the success of *Space Marine 2*. In an interview with IGN shortly after its launch, Saber Interactive's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits hinted at potential story DLC and shared that ideas for *Space Marine 3* were already in discussion. He mentioned that game director Dmitry Grigorenko had proposed story ideas that could either expand into DLC or form the basis of a sequel, teasing the inclusion of new factions and chapters.
