In the latest installment of Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy Remake series, announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. This news is exciting for fans eager to experience this beloved RPG on a new platform.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an enhanced version of the 2020 PS4 release, Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is the first chapter in a planned trilogy remaking the iconic 1997 PlayStation RPG. Intergrade, specifically designed for the PS5, boasts upgraded graphics and lighting, and includes the Intermission DLC, which introduces the character Yuffie and her adventures in Midgar.

Currently available on PS5 and PC, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will now leverage the advanced capabilities of the Switch 2. Hamaguchi expressed enthusiasm about recreating Midgar with full specs on Nintendo's new handheld platform. "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs," he stated, highlighting the improved performance of the new console.

The portability of the Switch 2 adds a new dimension to the gaming experience. Hamaguchi noted, "Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work." This feature not only enhances convenience but also facilitates direct interaction and sharing among players.

Moreover, the Switch 2 version will include GameChat, allowing players to communicate with friends during gameplay and share their screens in real time. Hamaguchi expressed his excitement, saying, "I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system," and expressed his hopes for a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi hinted at future releases, saying, "I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2." This suggests that subsequent entries, including Rebirth and the final chapter of the trilogy, might also make their way to the Switch 2.

The Final Fantasy series has deep roots with Nintendo, having started on their consoles before transitioning to the PlayStation with Final Fantasy VII in 1997. The remake's arrival on Nintendo hardware marks a significant return to the series' origins, promising to delight fans old and new.
