Halo Infinite's ongoing evolution continues with the upcoming release of a new competitive mode: S&D Extraction. While not as widely publicized as some other releases, this mode promises a strategic and engaging experience for players.
Inspired by Counter-Strike, S&D Extraction introduces a unique twist on the classic bomb defusal formula. Two teams of four players face off; one team attacks, aiming to plant a device, while the other defends. Teams switch roles after each round, with the first team to win six rounds claiming victory.
A key element of S&D Extraction is its dynamic economic system. Players earn in-game currency by completing objectives, which they then use to purchase equipment at the start of each round. Pricing fluctuates based on player performance, and all gear is lost at the end of each round. This creates a tension between acquiring powerful, expensive items and conserving resources for later rounds. Early rounds will feature cheaper items, escalating in cost as the match progresses. Furthermore, players will have the option to pay for respawns.
S&D Extraction is slated for a 2025 release in Halo Infinite, offering a fresh competitive experience built on familiar mechanics but with innovative additions.
