Read on for key highlights!

Built on the RE Engine: The sequel will utilize Capcom's RE Engine, a powerful tool enabling the team to realize previously unattainable aspects of their vision for the original Okami. While some Clover developers are new to the engine, the collaboration with Machine Head Works bridges this gap.

Mystery Ex-Platinum Developers Involved: Rumors of PlatinumGames talent joining the project were confirmed, with Kamiya hinting at the involvement of former Platinum and Capcom developers through Machine Head Works. Specific names remain undisclosed for now.

A Long-Awaited Sequel: Capcom's interest in an Okami sequel has been long-standing, fueled by the game's steadily increasing popularity across various platforms. The project's initiation, however, awaited the alignment of key personnel, finally achieved with Kamiya and Machine Head Works on board.

A Direct Continuation: This is a true sequel, directly continuing the narrative from the original Okami. While details remain under wraps, the original game's ending leaves ample room for further storytelling.

Amaterasu Returns: The trailer confirms the return of the beloved Amaterasu.

Okamiden Acknowledged: The developers acknowledge Okamiden's existence and the mixed reception to its narrative. The new sequel, however, focuses on a direct continuation of the original Okami's story.
