Old School RuneScape has now released the final chapter of the Varlamore storyline, titled "Varlamore: The Final Dawn." This content drop concludes a long-running narrative, tasking players with confronting the Doom of Mokhaiotl and unearthing its sinister secrets.
Brutal enemies and deeper challenges await
The Final Dawn is a Master-level quest that brings the Varlamore trilogy to its epic close. To begin, you must have completed both "The Heart of Darkness" and "Perilous Moons," while also possessing level 66 in Thieving, 52 in Fletching, and 52 in Runecraft. A Combat Level of 85 is also highly recommended for this endeavor.
The adventure unfolds in Varlamore, where you ally with the Queen to rescue Itzla. Your mission is to defeat the Doom of Mokhaiotl, an ancient monstrosity the Old Ones called Osto-Ayak. This fight leads you into the Ruins of Mokhaiotl, a demanding new PvM experience designed without checkpoints or pauses.
Breaking from tradition, this encounter is Old School RuneScape's first Delve boss. It's a solo endgame challenge that uses an enrage mechanic, becoming progressively more difficult as you advance. Each successful phase forces the Doom deeper into its lair, ramping up the intensity.
Progress is all-or-nothing. Death means forfeiting all accumulated loot, while choosing to exit resets you back to the first floor. The initial levels present a challenge comparable to the Corrupted Gauntlet, but the later stages demand skill on par with acquiring the Infernal Cape.
The expansion unlocks new areas throughout Varlamore
The scenic Auburnal Valley provides an autumnal landscape perfect for honing your Fletching abilities. For a tougher test, head to the rugged Custodia Pass, which features a new Slayer dungeon on the border of the Kebos Lowlands. In the lush Tlati Rainforest, home to the Talkasti people, you can battle the Gemstone Crab, a formidable new PvM boss.
