Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest has arrived on mobile devices. This officially licensed RPG was developed by Zenifun Technology, a Hong Kong-based studio, and faithfully recreates Yoshihiro Togashi's universe of spirit detectives, demon realms, and intense martial arts tournaments.
The original manga first appeared in November 1990. Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, it was heavily influenced by his passion for horror films, Buddhist mythology, and supernatural themes. The series combined all the essential elements of a great manga: gritty street brawls, memorable characters, complex afterlife politics, and epic demon battles and competitions.
So, what happens in Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest?
Set within the same world as the original manga and anime, the game picks up at the very beginning of the story. Yusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old delinquent, sacrifices his life to save a child from an oncoming car.
Players embark on a bizarre afterlife journey as Yusuke becomes an Underworld Detective. He tackles increasingly dangerous supernatural cases before the story evolves into a series of high-stakes combat encounters.
You can build teams with characters like Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, Genkai, Younger Toguro, Sensui, and Yomi. Every fighter brings distinct abilities to combat, allowing you to experiment with different combinations to uncover strategic benefits.
The game employs a gacha system, so acquiring your favorite characters becomes part of the core gameplay loop. You can enjoy PvE content and summon characters via the Demon World, or test your skills in competitive PvP and GvG matches through the Dark Tournament mode.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest doesn't merely retell the original plot. It explores deeper story arcs, including the opening to the Demon Realm and the legendary Demon World Tournament, offering players substantial new content alongside the familiar narrative. Watch the game in action below.
