Developer Pocketpair has unveiled Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating simulation game set within its widely popular monster-collecting universe—and no, this is not an April Fools' Day prank (at least not this time).
The studio behind 2024's Pokémon-inspired survival adventure shared plans to add a romantic twist to its lineup today, March 31. Under normal circumstances, fans would welcome such news without hesitation. However, as April 1 approaches, the internet is about to be flooded with jokes, fake game announcements, and surreal reveals from developers, leaving many fans understandably skeptical about Palworld! More Than Just Pals.
Pocketpair aims to make one thing clear for the skeptics: Palworld! More Than Just Pals is absolutely a real video game. The concept appears to have originated from the team’s April Fools' Day joke in 2024, when they announced More Than Just Pals as a purely humorous, non-existent project. Now, it's become a reality and is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-determined date.
Palworld! More Than Just Pals promises to be an unexpected expansion of Pocketpair's hit universe. According to its description, players will get to build friendships and romantic relationships with a group of student Pals attending Palagos Private Academy. The project’s official Steam store page showcases characters such as the "cute and mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet—many of whom share names with creatures from the original Palworld.
“You take on the role of a transfer student enrolled in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy,” the official description states. “You’ll meet a diverse cast of Pals and experience school life through friendship and romance. The choices are yours: stay friends, kindle a romance—or even dismember and eat them.”
This doesn't concern April Fools :)

Pocketpair celebrated Palworld’s first anniversary this past January, with ongoing development bringing regular updates. These additions should help ease the wait for the upcoming dating sim, as players recently received an update that introduced crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, a photo mode, and more. Meanwhile, fans anticipating a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld still have some hope to hold onto. Even if a Switch port doesn’t materialize, there’s always the possibility that Palworld! More Than Just Pals will eventually come to the platform.
