Charity Event Surpasses $2.5M in AGDQ 2025

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Research

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The marathon featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many other popular games across various genres.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) fundraisers held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick marathon in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, including Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. Noteworthy is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick event, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a swift Pikmin (Switch) run by speedrunner Ray0ken. The event's remarkable fundraising success continues a long-standing partnership between GDQ and the Prevent Cancer Foundation, with a combined total exceeding $26 million raised over the years. The Prevent Cancer Foundation focuses on early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs.

A standout moment was speedrunner Chuckles825's Crazy Taxi run, accompanied by a live band performing cover versions of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player race of Super Metroid (SNES), featuring a nail-biting finish between Eddie and Andy, separated by just one second. GDQ will continue its fundraising efforts with Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders, starting July 6th.
