The Exit 8: 3D Liminal Space Walking Simulator Now on Android!

The Exit 8, a unique blend of elements, has now made its way to Android devices. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this game is available for $3.99. It's not your typical walking simulator; instead, it envelops you in an eerie atmosphere that challenges you with every step.

A Creepy Walking Adventure

In The Exit 8, you find yourself navigating an endless underground passageway that mirrors a Japanese metro station. You're caught in a loop where everything from the tiles and lights to the posters and a solitary man walking towards you repeats endlessly. The challenge lies in spotting anomalies—perhaps a poster with a changed graphic, lights flickering more than usual, or even something as stark as a river of blood replacing the floor. The game's core mechanic revolves around noticing these subtle changes and responding quickly.

If you detect something unusual, you need to turn back. If not, you continue forward. The objective is to reach the eighth exit without any errors, which means correctly identifying and reacting to eight anomalies in succession. Fail, and you'll have to start over.

The Exit 8 Lets You Soak in a Surreal, Unsettling Atmosphere

Inspired by the concept of liminal spaces and the eerie Backrooms, The Exit 8's setting draws heavily from real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo. The game's claustrophobic corridors and repetitive architecture immerse you in a surreal and unsettling environment. It actively engages you with your surroundings, urging you to scrutinize every detail for signs of danger or reality distortion. This constant questioning of your memory and perception ensures that each playthrough feels unique.

Originally released for PC in November 2023, The Exit 8 took about nine months to develop. Following its launch, it garnered an impressive 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
