Just over six months after GameStop closed it down in August 2024, Game Informer has made a triumphant return, with the entire team back in action. In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer's Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller shared exciting news: Gunzilla Games has acquired the rights to Game Informer from GameStop and is committed to reviving not just the editorial team, but the entire production process and more.
For those new to the scene, Gunzilla Games is the powerhouse behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game, Off the Grid, currently in Early Access. They are also the creators of GunZ, a "Layer-1 blockchain ecosystem" that fuels community-driven economies within AAA games, including Off the Grid. Adding to their star-studded lineup, Neill Blomkamp, the acclaimed director of District 9 and Chappie, serves as Gunzilla's chief creative officer and co-founder.
Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can't wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the people who play games from around the world.

Miller emphasized that the new owners at Gunzilla Games are dedicated to preserving Game Informer's independence. They firmly believe, just as the editorial team does, that the only way forward is with an editorial group that retains full control over what they cover and how they do it, free from any external influence.
Under the new banner of Game Informer Inc., the website has relaunched, bringing back its over 30-year legacy that was paused last August. The team has been busy during their hiatus, preparing "dozens" of new reviews for games released during their downtime, along with their Best of 2024 awards.
While the print magazine will return at a later date, Miller promised it would be "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer will introduce membership and subscription benefits, expand their video, streaming, and feature coverage, and aim to broaden their network of experts and partnerships to bring diverse perspectives to their readers.
