Leaked 2005 James Bond audition tapes surface online, showcasing Henry Cavill's impressive performance before Daniel Craig secured the role.
Games Radar reports that a selection of these tapes, featuring Cavill, Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr, have been uploaded to the Ron South YouTube channel, belonging to an enthusiastic filmmaker.
While all auditions are noteworthy, Cavill's has garnered significant attention. Many, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, who described Cavill's audition as "tremendous," believe he would have been a superb James Bond. Campbell reportedly favored Cavill, but ultimately, other executives chose Craig.
Cavill later fulfilled his spy aspirations in Argylle, a film where he starred alongside a remarkable cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara. Despite this impressive ensemble, the film received poor critical reception, scoring a mere 4/10 in IGN's review.
Cavill's career continues to flourish, encompassing iconic roles such as Superman for DC, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and numerous other diverse projects.
