Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower than Global Version

Authore: EmilyUpdate:Apr 03,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with different pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world, catering to different market needs and economic conditions. If you're eager to get your hands on this next-generation gaming console, here's what you need to know about the pricing and availability of the Switch 2.

Switch 2 Pricing: Japan vs. Global

The Nintendo Switch 2 will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system and a Multi-Language System. For those in Japan, the Japanese-language version will be available at a more affordable price of around $330. In contrast, the Multi-Language System version, which will be sold worldwide, is set at a higher price of $449.99—a difference of over $100. This pricing discrepancy is largely influenced by the current weak yen-to-USD exchange rate, making it less attractive for tourists to buy the console in Japan.

If you're in Japan and prefer the Multi-Language System, you'll still have the option to purchase it. However, the Japanese-language version will be exclusive to Japan, accessible only to Nintendo Accounts registered in Japan. This version will support only the Japanese language and will be limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For fans outside Japan or those who wish to use the console in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. More detailed information about this version will be disclosed on April 4, so keep an eye out for updates.
