Larian Unveils New Subclasses in Baldur's Gate 3

Larian Studios has surprised Baldur's Gate 3 fans by announcing a major update slated for 2025, defying expectations that Patch 7 would be the final significant update. This substantial update will include highly anticipated features like crossplay support and a photo mode, but the real game-changer is the introduction of twelve brand-new subclasses, each promising unique and exciting gameplay mechanics.

While details on four subclasses have already been revealed, let's delve into the remaining eight:

Oath of the Crown Paladin: This paladin subclass champions justice and societal well-being. Their unique ability, Divine Devotion, allows them to absorb incoming damage meant for allies, simultaneously restoring their health.

Arcane Archer: Blending martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer fires enchanted arrows capable of blinding, weakening, or even exiling foes to the Feywild until their next turn. Remarkably, missed shots can be redirected mid-flight to strike another enemy.

Drunken Master Monk: This unconventional monk incorporates alcohol into their fighting style. A signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented while enhancing the monk's own capabilities. Using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target unleashes a devastating dual attack, inflicting both physical and mental damage.

Swarmkeeper Ranger: Harnessing the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger commands swarms of creatures as allies. These swarms provide protection and aid in teleportation. In combat, they can deploy three distinct swarm types: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions that knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.
