A Sony property is crossing over into a Microsoft game, bringing the fight against the Darkness to the high seas. Sea of Thieves has introduced new cosmetics from the world of Destiny 2, enriching the game with the Lightbearer cosmetics set. This set includes new flags, ship cosmetics, a costume set, and more, allowing players to deck out their ships and sailors with Destiny-themed items. The trailer for this new set showcases various Destiny references, such as the Drifter's outfit and a ghost hanging off the front of a ship. Players can find a wealth of options in the Pirate Emporium to customize their experience with these exciting Destiny cosmetics.

PlaySea of Thieves made its debut on PlayStation last year, marking one of several Microsoft properties that have expanded to Sony's console. Destiny, on the other hand, has remained on Xbox despite Bungie's acquisition by Sony. This crossover blurs the lines between consoles but adds a fun twist to Sea of Thieves, especially with the Drifter's outfit fitting seamlessly into the game's pirate world.

Season 15 of Sea of Thieves recently launched, introducing new encounters, voyages, and content to the enduring piracy experience. Rare's game has not only maintained its popularity but also thrived on the PlayStation 5, even topping an EU sales chart upon its release on the platform.

Meanwhile, Destiny 2 has released the Heresy update and continues to evolve following its significant narrative conclusion in The Final Shape. The space-faring shooter has also engaged in recent crossovers, most notably with Star Wars.

Both Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 have successfully navigated the dynamic landscape of live-service game production, making their collaboration in this crossover particularly noteworthy. The Destiny-themed cosmetics are now available in Sea of Thieves, though it's uncertain if Destiny 2 will reciprocate with Sea of Thieves content. In this writer's opinion, incorporating a pirate boat into Destiny 2's space environment would be a thrilling addition.
