Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade, has reported a historic financial year driven by $43 million in royalties from the title, with projections indicating that the PC version will surpass sales of the original PlayStation 5 release.

According to figures cited by Game World Observer, Shift Up's 2024 annual report highlights a total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a 30.4% year-over-year increase. Notably, Stellar Blade alone contributed $43.2 million in royalties during this period.

Momentum appears to be building further as Shift Up anticipates that PC sales will outperform the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. The developer also plans to unveil its upcoming title, Project Witches, sometime in the first half of 2025, although it is not expected to serve as a direct sequel to Stellar Blade.

Project Witches was initially introduced in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade launched on PS5 and before significant demand for a follow-up had fully developed. Nevertheless, Shift Up has confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of creating additional entries within the franchise.

In this fast-paced action RPG, players assume control of Eve as she fights against mysterious invaders to reclaim Earth from their grasp. The game received an 7/10 score in IGN's review and achieved commercial success by swiftly moving a million units worldwide.

"Stellar Blade excels in the essential areas for any action title, yet its dull characterizations, uninspired narrative, and several bothersome RPG mechanics keep it from reaching the pinnacle of its genre," we previously noted.
