Running a livestock farm in Fields of Mistria can be lucrative, but the daily chore of petting your animals can quickly become tedious. Thankfully, while the base game lacks an auto-petter, modding offers a solution.

The Animal Friends mod by annanomoly on Nexus Mods provides an auto-petting function, along with automatic animal feeding. Crucially, you'll also need the Mods of Mistria Installer—this is essential for the mod to work.
Here's how to install the mod:
- Create a new folder named "Mods" within your Fields of Mistria game files.
- Download AnimalFriends.zip and place it in the "Mods" folder.
- Extract the zip file's contents. You can then delete or move the original zip file.
- Run the Mods of Mistria Installer to install the mod.
The Animal Friends mod offers customizable features: auto-petting, auto-feeding, a friendship multiplier, and prevention of friendship loss. The multiplier increases the hearts your animals gain, while the loss prevention feature ensures those hearts remain.
To adjust settings, locate AnimalFriends.json within the extracted mod folder. This file is a simple text document. Enable a feature by changing "false" to "true" and disable it by changing "true" to "false".
The friendship multiplier requires a numerical input (1-100). A value of 100 skips the bonding process, while 1 disables the multiplier.
Upon initial installation, auto-petting and auto-feeding are inactive by default. However, the mod automatically applies a five-times multiplier to heart points gained from petting and activates friendship loss prevention.
To remove the mod, use the Mods of Mistria Installer to uninstall it properly. This prevents potential save file corruption.
Before installing any mod, always back up your save file. While generally stable, a backup is a wise precaution.
