Good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard fans! BioWare has announced that the game will launch without Denuvo DRM, a decision celebrated by many players due to Denuvo's often negative impact on performance. However, this means no preload for PC players, a significant drawback considering the game's 100GB+ size.
No Denuvo, No Preload
BioWare's Michael Gamble stated on Twitter (X) that "Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you." This anti-piracy software, while common among publishers like EA, is often criticized for performance issues. The absence of Denuvo has been met with positive reactions from the gaming community.
The lack of DRM does, however, eliminate the possibility of a PC preload. This news will likely disappoint some players, especially given the game's substantial storage requirements. Console players, however, can preload. Xbox early access players can install now, while PlayStation early access begins October 29th. The game also promises offline play.
System Requirements Revealed
Alongside the DRM announcement, BioWare released the system requirements, showcasing options for high-end PCs with ray tracing support and uncapped frame rates, while aiming for accessibility in minimum specifications. Consoles will offer fidelity and performance modes targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. High-end ray tracing on PC requires a rig with at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT.
