Wuthering Waves: Elemental Effects, Explained

Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly in Version 2.0, introducing Elemental Effects that go beyond simple buffs and resistances. Initially, these effects were primarily applied by enemies, but now characters can utilize and benefit from them, creating more dynamic interactions. This guide details the changes and how players can leverage these effects.

Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs:

Each element now has a unique status effect:

Elemental Effect	Effect Description
Havoc Bane	Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters.
Glacio Chafe	Reduces movement speed per stack, up to 10 stacks which freezes the resonator. Players can "Struggle" to thaw faster.
Spectro Frazzle	Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG over time. More stacks = more damage.
Fusion Burst	Stacks up to 10, exploding for significant Fusion DMG at max stacks.
Aero Erosion	Deals Aero DMG periodically; stacks don't deplete to deal damage. More stacks = more damage over time.
Electro Flare	Reduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 (-5%), 5-9 (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 (-10%).

Dodging removes all effect stacks.

Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets:

Currently, the application and benefit of Elemental Effects is limited.

Spectro Rover: The only character currently able to apply Elemental Effects (post-Version 2.0 rework). Its Resonance Skill’s Resonating Spin variant applies Spectro Frazzle stacks and a Shimmer effect preventing stack decay.

Echoes and Echo Sets:

Only one Echo set currently interacts with Elemental Effects:

Eternal Radiance (Echo Set): 2-piece bonus: +10% Spectro DMG. 5-piece bonus: Applying Spectro Frazzle increases Crit Rate by 20% for 15s; 10 stacks grant a 15% Spectro DMG bonus for 15s.
Nightmare (Echo): Increases Spectro DMG dealt to enemies with Spectro Frazzle by 100%. Provides a 12% Spectro DMG bonus to the equipped Resonator.

While currently niche, the introduction of Elemental Effects suggests future expansion of this mechanic in Wuthering Waves, offering more strategic depth in combat.
