Tingklik is a traditional Balinese bamboo musical instrument

Tingklik is a time-honored Balinese musical instrument crafted from bamboo, consisting of a series of tuned blades that are struck with a special paddle called a "tingklik pelvis". This unique gamelan instrument comes in two variations: the Tingklik Polos and Tingklik Sangsih. Each complete tingklik set contains between eleven to twenty-five carefully tuned bamboo blades, with the exact number varying according to the specific musical scale being played.

The instrument is played using both hands in a coordinated technique - the right hand typically plays the melodic kotekan patterns while the left hand maintains the rhythmic bun foundation. In some performance styles, players alternate this pattern with the right hand playing the sangsih (complementary) part while the left hand handles the polos (main melody).

This bamboo xylophone instrument demonstrates the Balinese people's musical ingenuity in transforming natural materials into sophisticated percussive instruments, maintaining an important role in traditional Balinese gamelan ensembles.
