The latest PlayStation State of Play presentation delivered an exclusive first look at *007 First Light*, the highly anticipated James Bond game developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the acclaimed *Hitman* series. Set for release in 2026, this cinematic project promises to deliver a fresh take on the iconic secret agent.

A gripping trailer introduced audiences to a young and newly minted James Bond, capturing the early days of his career as a field agent. The narrative begins with a tragic and formative event—Bond, at just 11 years old, witnesses the harrowing death of his parents during a mountain climbing accident. Forced to survive alone after his parents cut their ropes to save him, the sequence establishes the emotional foundation for his journey into espionage.

The trailer also confirmed the involvement of Lennie James from *The Walking Dead*, who will portray a key character in the game. While further details about his role remain under wraps, his inclusion hints at a rich and dramatic storyline.

Originally announced in 2020 as *Project 007*, *007 First Light* has been shrouded in secrecy. From the outset, IO Interactive emphasized that this would be an original origin story for Bond, not directly tied to any existing film in the franchise. More recently, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak expressed hopes that this title would launch a trilogy of Bond games. However, fans of *Hitman* will have to wait, as the beloved stealth series is currently on hold while the team focuses on this ambitious new IP.

In April of this year, it was also revealed that *007 First Light* will launch across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring broad accessibility for players around the world.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the 2026 release date.
