The 97th Academy Awards nominations are in, and Emilia Pérez leads the pack with a record-breaking 13 nominations—the most ever for a non-English language film. Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominees on January 23rd during a live stream on the Oscars YouTube channel.
Jacques Audiard's Spanish crime thriller, Emilia Pérez, is a major contender, receiving nominations in key categories including Best Picture, Best Director (Audiard himself), and Best Lead Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón.
Wicked and The Brutalist closely follow with 10 nominations each, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown garnered eight apiece.
