Memorial Day Alienware 18 Area-51 Deals
The Alienware 18 Area-51 is designed more as a mobile desktop replacement than a daily carry laptop, weighing nearly 10 pounds and measuring 0.95 inches at its thinnest point. It consumes substantial power, coming with a 360W power brick, and is best used plugged into an outlet. The larger form factor offers numerous benefits, including an expansive 18" display, a full-sized keyboard with a dedicated numpad, and an advanced cooling system that keeps noise levels down while accommodating an RJ45 ethernet port.
Two models are on sale for Memorial Day. The $3,150 model features an RTX 5080 GPU and 32GB of RAM, while the $3,750 model is upgraded with an RTX 5090 GPU and 64GB of RAM.

Memorial Day Alienware 16 Area-51 Deals
While not as large as the Alienware 18, the Alienware 16 remains a premium gaming laptop focused on delivering maximum power and cooling. It weighs 7.5 pounds and is 0.85 inches thick at its thinnest. Like its larger counterpart, it includes a 360W power brick and should be kept plugged in during use. The smaller size accommodates a 16" display and a standard laptop keyboard without a separate numpad or ethernet jack. Despite its size, it can match the Alienware 18 in performance, thanks to its robust cooling system and support for an Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU.
Four models are currently on sale for Memorial Day. The $2,850 model comes with an RTX 5070 Ti GPU. Two models priced at $2,999.99 and $3,150 feature an RTX 5080 GPU, while the top-tier $3,650 model is equipped with an RTX 5090 GPU.

This CPU / GPU Combo Excels in Any Game
The Alienware Area-51 is powered by the formidable Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which boasts a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, 24 cores, and 40MB of L2 cache. According to Passmark, it's among the fastest mobile processors available, rivaling the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.
The RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU, as reported by Notebookcheck, is the true successor to the RTX 4070, delivering performance comparable to the RTX 4080. The RTX 5070, however, falls behind with performance similar to the RTX 4070 but should still handle any game smoothly at the native 1920x1200 resolution.
Tom's Hardware notes that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is 15%-20% more powerful than its predecessor, the RTX 4080, and even slightly outperforms the RTX 4090 by about 5%. It represents excellent value, offering performance close to the RTX 5090 at a significantly lower price. With the Alienware Area-51's QHD+ (2560x1600) display, the RTX 5080 should run new and upcoming games at high frame rates, especially with the support of DLSS 4.
The Area-51: New Style, More Power, Better Cooling
For 2025, the Alienware Area-51 gaming laptop introduces a magnesium alloy chassis with enhanced cooling to manage the latest high-performance components. This includes additional fans, larger cutouts for improved airflow, increased use of copper, and a new thermal interface material to efficiently dissipate heat. Dell claims the laptop can maintain a higher power ceiling of up to 240W TDP without increasing noise levels.
The design of the Area-51 features sleek contours with rounded edges and soft corners, moving away from the traditional squared-off look. The hinges are mostly internal, making them nearly invisible. True to Alienware's style, there are extensive options for RGB LED customization. Connectivity includes three USB Type-A 3.2 15Gbps ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt / USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a card reader. The 16" model weighs 7.5 pounds, while the 18" model tips the scales at 9.6 pounds.
