Ananta Emerges from Ashes of Project Mugen, Unleashes Thrilling Trailer

Remember Project Mugen, the anticipated urban open-world RPG from Naked Rain and NetEase? It's had a name change! Now known as Ananta, this title, initially unveiled at Gamescom 2023, has finally released a new trailer after a lengthy silence. More information is promised on December 5th. Until then, enjoy the trailer:

The Name Change Mystery

The developers haven't yet commented on the reason for the name change. Interestingly, both "Ananta" (Sanskrit for infinite) and "Mugen" (Japanese for infinite) share the same meaning. The Chinese title reinforces this.

The gaming community is divided on the rebranding, but universally relieved the project hasn't been cancelled. Comparisons are already being drawn with Hotta Studio's upcoming RPG, Neverness to Everness. While Ananta's trailer is visually impressive, the lack of gameplay footage leaves Neverness to Everness potentially ahead in many players' eyes. Personally, I find Ananta's visuals more captivating.

A Curious Turn of Events

Adding to the intrigue, the development team has deleted all previous social media accounts, including a YouTube channel boasting over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views. Only the Discord server remains, simply renamed. This fresh start has puzzled many gamers.

In Ananta, players assume the role of an Infinite Trigger, a paranormal investigator battling supernatural chaos. Key characters include Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, and Dila.
