Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dominates 2024 Sales Charts

Circana's data reveals Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as the top-selling game in the U.S. for 2024, extending the Call of Duty franchise's reign at the top of the U.S. market to an impressive sixteen consecutive years. EA Sports College Football 25 secured the title of best-selling sports game, launching in July.

While overall U.S. gaming spending dipped slightly (1.1% year-over-year), Circana attributes this decline to reduced hardware sales. Conversely, spending on add-ons and services saw growth, rising 2% and 6% respectively.

Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2's second season launches January 28th, promising a ninja-themed adventure and a thrilling crossover with the Terminator franchise.

Critical acclaim has been widespread, with praise directed towards the diverse and engaging missions that prevent gameplay monotony. The innovative movement system, enabling versatile shooting while in various positions (running, falling, or prone), and refined shooting mechanics also garnered significant positive feedback.

The roughly eight-hour campaign length struck a chord with many reviewers and players alike, deemed neither too brief nor overly lengthy. The zombies mode also received high praise. However, Black Ops 6 wasn't without its detractors. A significant portion of Steam reviews cite technical issues as a major drawback.

Numerous complaints focus on frequent crashes and unreliable server connections, significantly hindering progression through the story mode.
