The Call of Duty community believes they've uncovered evidence suggesting Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will support cosmetic carryover from Black Ops 6.
Following the ESRB rating confirmation that Black Ops 7 will maintain its M 17+ rating across PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and legacy consoles (PS4/Xbox One), eagle-eyed fans spotted an intriguing detail in the rating summary mentioning weapons featuring "marijuana/joints/paraphernalia: player characters inhaling from rifle-mounted bong attachments during execution sequences."
Players are connecting this to the Dank Days Tracer Pack from Black Ops 6 - a premium bundle containing weed-themed weapon skins, finishers, charms, and sprays. The apparent reference heavily implies content continuity between the two titles.
This potential confirmation of cross-game cosmetic transfers has divided the community. While some players are thrilled about preserving their inventory, others have expressed frustration.
"Great, so all the ridiculous cosmetics are coming through," complained one fan, with another bluntly stating: "Carry forward confirmed - terrible decision."
Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 made its debut at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as the first consecutive release in the sub-series. Call of Duty General Manager Matt Cox emphasized their "vision to deliver interconnected Black Ops experiences," with the campaign featuring Milo Ventimiglia as David Mason, Kiernan Shipka as newcomer Emma Kagen, and Michael Rooker returning as Mike Harper.
Leaked details from a developer playtest accidentally distributed via the Call of Duty app revealed Skirmish/Overload multiplayer modes and a 20v20 wingsuit battle option.
The news follows Activision's removal of controversial in-game advertisements from Black Ops 6, which the company claimed were deployed accidentally. With Black Ops 6 currently priced at $70, industry watchers expect Black Ops 7 to launch at $80 - aligning with Microsoft's announced price increase for first-party titles.
