Call of Duty: Warzone Lobby Crash Bug Under Investigation

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

A recent wave of reports detailed Warzone games freezing or crashing while loading, leading to frustration and unwarranted penalties for affected players. Although the root cause remains unaddressed, a swift response from the developers has temporarily suspended Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before Ranked matches begin. This addresses player concerns regarding unfair punishments stemming from the bug.

This issue adds to a series of challenges faced by developer Raven Software in recent months. Following a December 2024 matchmaking outage and ongoing reports of cheating and bugs, this new problem further impacts player experience. The temporary fix, announced on January 9th, prevents penalties for pre-match disconnections, but penalties for mid-match departures remain in effect.

Despite a major update in early January 2025, bugs persist, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the development team. While the temporary penalty suspension offers some relief, the underlying issue and its impact on Ranked play remain a concern for the Warzone community. The developers are actively working towards a comprehensive solution.
