Warner Bros.' seemingly shelved film, Coyote vs. Acme, may be headed for release after all, according to Deadline. Ketchup Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based independent film production and distribution company, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire the completed film, previously believed to be scrapped.
While the deal isn't finalized, a theatrical release in 2026 is anticipated should negotiations succeed.
Announced in 2022 and based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article, Coyote vs. Acme is co-written by James Gunn and stars Will Forte and John Cena. Originally slated for a mid-2023 release on Max, the film was shelved despite completing filming, prompting a dedicated fan campaign to secure its release.
Ketchup Entertainment's recent success includes rescuing *The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie* from a similar fate at Warner Bros., securing it a US theatrical release. This marks the first fully animated Looney Tunes film to receive a theatrical release, earning praise as a "laugh-out-loud riot" in IGN's review.Ketchup Entertainment's previous projects include Hellboy: The Crooked Man, the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic (starring Ben Affleck), and co-production on Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic.
