The highly anticipated reboot of the beloved Narnia series, helmed by the acclaimed writer and director of the Barbie movie, Greta Gerwig, has added the talented Carey Mulligan to its stellar cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulligan joins an impressive ensemble that includes former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Sex Education's Emma Mackey, and the legendary Meryl Streep. Gerwig, who will once again take on the dual role of writer and director, is set to bring a fresh perspective to C.S. Lewis's iconic fantasy saga, The Chronicles of Narnia.

The upcoming film will adapt the prequel novel, The Magician's Nephew, which unfolds before the events of the most renowned Narnia tale, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Carey Mulligan, an actress with a plethora of awards and nominations including Oscars, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes, is slated to portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of the story's young protagonist, Digory.

Daniel Craig will take on the role of the film's titular magician and Digory's uncle, while Emma Mackey will embody a youthful version of Narnia's notorious antagonist, the White Witch. Adding to the star power, Meryl Streep will lend her voice to the character of Aslan, the series' divine and majestic talking lion.

This isn't the first time the enchanting world of Narnia has graced the silver screen. A previous trilogy, released between 2005 and 2010, adapted the first three books of C.S. Lewis's series: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. These films featured Tilda Swinton, known for her role in Doctor Strange, as the White Witch, and Liam Neeson, recognized from the Star Wars franchise, voicing Aslan.

Greta Gerwig's latest venture into Narnia follows her success with the 2023 blockbuster, Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The film, which garnered eight Academy Award nominations and clinched the award for Best Original Song, set high expectations for Gerwig's next project.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026, promising fans an exciting new chapter in the magical world of Narnia.
