How to Change Your Hunter and Palico's Appearance
First, we'll cover your character's physical look in Monster Hunter Wilds. The game provides a highly detailed character creator, letting you design an avatar that may closely resemble your real-life appearance.
That said, you can still make changes after starting the game. Once the base camp is unlocked, go to your tent and access the Appearance Menu by pressing L1 or R1. Select the Change Appearance option to reopen the character creator and adjust how both your Hunter and Palico look.
Customizing Gear with Layered Armor
Layered Armor becomes available from the very beginning of Monster Hunter Wilds. Repeat the same steps: enter your tent, open the Appearance Menu, and select Equipment Appearance. Here, you can freely customize your Hunter's outfit—with the limitation that you can only use Layered Armor items you have already unlocked. Note that you cannot transmog your current armor into other types you have crafted.
There is also a Palico Equipment Appearance setting that enables you to apply Layered Armor to your Palico.
