Console Players Join Skate Playtesting Expansion

Skateboarding Returns: Console Playtesting for the New skate. Game Begins!

Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skate., the latest installment in the beloved Skate franchise, is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. While PC players have been enjoying test periods since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for Xbox and PlayStation users to experience a new Skate game in over 15 years.

The last mainline entry, Skate 3, launched in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for a time, prioritizing other genres. However, persistent fan demand (the #Skate4 hashtag was undeniable!) eventually led to the creation of a dedicated development team and the announcement of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest is a significant step towards that release.

Via the official skate. Twitter account, Xbox and PlayStation players can now participate in the playtest through the skate. Insider program (registration required). A recent video featuring developers briefly addressed fan questions, confirming more Black hairstyle options are coming. They also playfully acknowledged the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement timeline.

skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam—a work-in-progress inspired by San Vanelona, Port Carverton, and real-world locations. While a map leak surfaced in 2023, it's likely undergone significant changes since then. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the wider release.

Other Skate Games to Enjoy in the Interim

While skate. is targeting an early access launch in 2025, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, skateboarding enthusiasts have other titles to enjoy until the new game's official arrival.
