A big screen adaptation of the original Kane & Lynch game, developed by the renowned Hitman studio IO Interactive and released in 2007, has been in the works for years. Over time, various Hollywood stars have been linked to the project, adding to its allure.

This week, Timo Tjahjanto, the director of Nobody 2, shared on social media that he had penned a treatment for the Kane & Lynch film, envisioning David Harbour, famous for his roles as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things and Red Guardian in Thunderbolts/New Avengers, in the lead. "Never seen a script, but a couple of years ago when that property was still kinda hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind," Tjahjanto revealed. "Never gotten anywhere."

Tjahjanto's treatment was just one of many ideas for a Kane & Lynch movie that ultimately never materialized. The project saw multiple iterations, with high-profile actors like Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx initially attached, though both eventually departed as the script underwent numerous rewrites.

Later, another version of the project was reportedly set to feature Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in the lead roles, but this too never came to fruition.

Play

Following the lukewarm reception to the 2010 sequel, Kane & Lynch: Dog Days, IO Interactive shifted its focus entirely to the Hitman franchise, leaving the Kane & Lynch series—and its potential film adaptation—on the back burner.
