Deino Debut: A Guide to Capturing and Evolving in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Authore: JackUpdate:Feb 12,2025

This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, necessitating trading or transferring to obtain them in Pokémon Violet.

Acquiring Deino and Zweilous:

  • Pokémon Scarlet: Locate Deino in the Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Zweilous can also be found in these locations, and both Pokémon appear in Tera Raids (3-star for Deino, 4-star for Zweilous).
  • Pokémon Violet: Due to version exclusivity, trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transferring from Pokémon HOME (compatible with Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet) are necessary. The HOME transfer process involves moving Deino to your HOME Basic Box, then transferring it to your Pokémon Violet PC Box.

Evolution:

Image: Deino Evolution Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the leveling process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.

Stat Base Stat
HP 92
Attack 105
Sp. Attack 125
Defense 90
Sp. Defense 90
Speed 98
Total 600

Type Effectiveness:

  • Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
  • Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
  • Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Hydreigon's 4x weakness to Fairy-type moves can be mitigated through Terastallizing. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Flash Cannon (via TM) is a crucial Steel-type move to counter its Fairy weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.

This revised guide provides a streamlined and updated approach to acquiring and utilizing Hydreigon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
