Don't Starve Together's Mobile Debut: No Netflix, But Still Coming to iOS and Android

Following a period of silence since the June 2024 announcement of Don't Starve Together's arrival on Netflix Games, we have both positive and negative updates. The unfortunate news is that the game will not be launching on Netflix. However, the good news is that Don't Starve Together is still headed to mobile devices.

Klei Entertainment and Playdigious are collaborating to bring the Tim Burton-esque survival experience to iOS and Android. The game, known for its quirky characters and challenging survival gameplay, will now see a global release on the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store. While a specific release date remains unannounced, both developers assure us an official date is forthcoming.

Netflix Deal Ends

It appears Don't Starve Together's exclusivity agreement with Netflix has been terminated. While the global mobile launch is welcome news, this development, along with other indie title cancellations from Netflix Games (such as Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon), raises questions about Netflix's future commitment to the indie gaming community.

The cancellation of Don't Starve Together, a highly successful and influential indie survival game, is particularly concerning. It casts doubt on the prospects for other indie games on the platform. Netflix's indie game selection has been a major draw for many subscribers, and this shift in strategy is a significant loss.
